  • Electronics and communication engineering is an unstoppable current that is entering into every nook and cranny of existence to manifest human thoughts into actions. Its inherent multidisciplinary approach enables electronics and communication engineers to excel in every field.


Department Profile

         The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering was established in the year 1986 with a vision “To Create Innovative, Ethical and Sociable Electronics and Communication Engineers”, in the field of technical education and research. The department has well-qualified, self-motivated, experienced, and committed teaching talent whose main focus is on Teaching-Learning with the right balance in research. Throughout its sparkling history of 36 years, the department of E&CE has been known for its exceptionally strong Under-Graduate and Post Graduate training programs.

         The Department offers 4 years of Undergraduate (UG) program in B.E and two years of Post Graduate (PG) program in M. Tech. with a specialization in Digital Electronics and Communication. The UG program was started in 1986, right from the inception of the college and the PG program was started in the year 2004. The current student intake for the UG program is 60 and for the PG program is 18. In addition, the department has a VTU-recognized research center that offers high-quality research programs at the doctoral level. Presently 6 scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. degrees in the research center.

         The department has thirteen well-qualified and dedicated faculty members- 4 doctorates and 9 M.Tech. degree holders- with an average experience of sixteen years- who are serving in the department. Since its inception, the department has achieved three university ranks in UG and six ranks in PG programs.

         In order to foster the technical and leadership qualities in students , the department has a student association namely ENCEA. Under its banner; students organize various technical seminars, workshops and invited lectures exclusively for the students. The resource persons are from industry, academic institutions and R&D centers. This helps the students to be exposed to the emerging and stateof-the-art technological developments in the E&CE arena. National Conference “E- Congregation” is organized every year for the students. The departmental newsletter ‘Abhivyakthi' is brought out in every semester.

         Department has adequate infrastructure and well-equipped laboratories. The laboratory facilities include a sufficient number of personal computers with LAN connectivity, internet facility, software packages and hardware are regularly being upgraded with time. Department is equipped with LCD projectors for lecture delivery, seminars and demonstration purpose in addition to an ICTenabled classroom. A separate mini-project laboratory has been established for the academic year 2022-23. Currently, MOU has been signed with the company Takshila Institute of VLSI Technologies, Bengaluru.

         Staff members are provided with separate faculty chambers and cabins. Wi-fi hotspots have been provided in classrooms, laboratories and faculty cabins. In addition to Central Library; Departmental Library has more than 1400 volumes with 378 titles, which includes academic, competitive related books and thesis reports of B.E, M.Tech, and Ph.D. that can be accessed by students as well as faculties.

         The curriculum and syllabi for the programs offered in the department are currently designed as per the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). The curriculum is designed to balance the depth of knowledge acquired through specialization and the breadth of knowledge gained through exploration and is ready to provide quality technical courses on par with IIT and NITs. The undergraduate degree courses offered by the department provide a comprehensive foundation in the core topics of ECE coupled with areas of interdisciplinary specialization relevant to emerging engineering challenges.

  • PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate considerations for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations

  • PO5: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

' *Aahvan 2K22' - ENCEA inauguration and fresher's day*

On 12/12/2022, the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised the association inauguration and freshers day celebration Aahvan 2K22. Er. Yogeesh Rao U, Assistant Executive Engineer, KPTCL , Mangalore was the cheif guest. Dr. Ujwal U J, CEO, Professor and Head department of computer science and engineering, Principal Dr. Suresha V, Vice Principal Dr. Shreedhar K. Staff co-ordinators, teaching and supporting staffs ,and students of E&CE were present for the function. Later the chief guest had a technical talk on the topic 'Control Electronics in Power System'.

Semiconductor testing

Department of Electronics and Communication engineering organised Tech -Talk program under the banner of ENCEA on 24/11/2022. Technical talk was conducted by Mr. Sirajudeen T S on the topic ' Semiconductor testing' and by Ms. Pranamya jake on the topic 'Breaking into Software Industry as a Fresher '. HOD, staff members and E&CE students were present for the program.

ENCEA association activity- EL-KWIZ

On 17/11/2022, ENCEA , Electronics and communication engineering department, organized a fun filled quiz program for Students. HOD, staff co-ordinators, teaching and support staffs were present for the function. The first and second prize were bagged by team 'Challengers' and team 'Together'.

Department of Electronics and communication engineering is conducting a 3 days faculty development program on 'Ability Enhancement courses on Electronics and Communication engineering' from 27/10/2022 to 29/10/2022.

Official function was inaugurated by Dr Renuka Prasad KV General Secretary AOLE by releasing the lab manual. Dr suresha V, principal KVGCE, Sullia was the president of the function. Vice Principal Dr Shreedhar K, Dean Academics, Dr Umashankar KS were present in the function. Welcome speech and vote of thanks were delivered by the program coordinators Prof. Rekha M B and Prof. Lokesh P C. Participants from various colleges, students, technical and advisory committee members were present on the function.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association celebrated “KANNADA RAJYOTSAVA” on 1st of November 2021. Ceremony was presided by Mr. Krishnananda.A, Head of the Department, MBA. Students of 7th semester and 5th semester were present on that occasion.

On 17th November 2021, final year and pre-final year students were scheduled for a technical talk on “Overview of image and video analytics with industrial case studies” by Dr. Harikrishna Rai, Staff technical product manager GE Health care services, Bengaluru.

ALUMNI INTERACTION- On 30th October 2021 Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association organized a virtual meeting with the alumni of the college who guided us through the interview cracking techniques and suggested us to learn new technologies to stand out of the crowd.

WEBINER- On 4th December 2021, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association arranged a virtual technical talk by Veeranji Reddy, Physical design engineer in Intel technologies India Pvt ltd. On “Job opportunity in VLSI/Semiconductor domain”, final year students were the beneficiated audience.

THRESHOLD 2.0 - On 18th December 2021, “Threshold 2.0”, an extra-curricular activity for students was organized. Activities included series of fun games and treasure-hunt.

FRESHERS DAY- On 13th of January 2022, inaugural function of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association was presidented by Dr. N.A. Jnanesh, Prncipal. Mr. Gautham Bhat B, Entrepreneur, SLV Foods, Digital Marketing Consultant, filled the position of Chief Guest. On that day Dr. Savitha M was felicitated for being awarded Doctorate degree. Later that day, fun filled games were organized to welcome the second and third year students into the branch.

WEBINER- Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association, organized webinar on the topic “Getting ready for the Corporate World” by Mr. Praneeth Raj, managing director, Accenture strategy and consulting, California, United State on 26th January 2022. Final year students were the benefited audience.

WEBINER- Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association organized webinar on “Carrier opportunities in VLSI domain”on 7th May 2022 by the resource person Rupali Guptha, Senior Design Engineer, Sevistech System Private Ltd, Bangalore. Dr. Savitha .M Professor, department of E&C was a coordinator of this program. Dr.Suresha.V HOD, department of E & C and other faculty members were present in this program. Students of 3rd year and final year were participants for this program.

Technical talk- Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Association organized Technical talk on “ Job opportunities in Core domain” on date 15-06-22 . The resource person was Mr. Sachin Prabhu , Founder and Manging director MANIPAL Edu. Dr.Kusumadhara.S HOD, department of E & C delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Suresha.V Principal KVGCE addressed the gathering. and other faculty members were present in this program. Students of 3rd year and final year were participants for this program.

Webinar on “Social Impact of Our Careers”- Department of E&C engineering organize a webinar session on “Social Impact of Our Careers” on Friday, 4th June 2021 from 3.00pm to 4.30pm. Mr. Girish Ramachandra, entrepreneur, Nation Technology Industry Practice Leader at Wipfli, Chicago, USA is the resource person.

Webinar on “ Ethical Use of Machine Learning with AWS”- Department of E&C Engineering organized a webinar session on “Ethical Use of Machine Learning with AWS” on Friday, 18th June 2021 from 2.00pm to 3.30pm. Prof. Mohammed Tanzeem Agra, Founder, XERXEZ SOLUTIONS was the resource person. Prof. Mohammed Tanzeem Agra is a proud Alumnus of our Esteemed Institution, who graduated in the year 2008. Mr. Kusumadhara S, Associate Professor and Mr. Jagadeesh M, Assistant Professor, E&C department, were the coordinators of this webinar. Dr. Suresha V, Professor and Head, Department of E&C Engineering welcomed the online gathering. Mr. Kusumadhara S introduced the resource person to the online gathering.

Webinar on “ MNC Job Opportunities in Core Domain”- Department of E&C Engineering organized a webinar session on “MNC job opportunities in core domain” on Friday, 9th July 2021 from 10.00am to 11am. Mr. Murali Challa, Founder, and Director TeamBite and Sandeep Prabhu, Founder, and Managing Director Manipal Edu-care, are the resource persons. Dr. Savitha.M, Associate Professor E&C department, is the coordinator of this webinar. Dr. Suresha V, Professor and Head, Department of E&C Engineering welcomed the online gathering and introduced the resource person to the online gathering.

“Immunity Enhancement program” for faculties- Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organized a “Immunity Enhancement program for faculties” on Monday, 28th July 2021 from 4.00pm to 5-15pm. Smt. Ashabharathi. S, Art of Living faculty and Certified Yoga Trainer, is the resource person for the program. Dr. Savitha.M, Associate Professor E&C department, are the coordinator of this program. Dr. Suresha V, Professor and Head, Department of E&C Engineering welcomed the online gathering. Dr, N.A Jnanesh Principal KVGCE addressed the gathering and Mrs. Bhagya H.K, Assoc. professor E & C department introduced the resource person to the online gathering Faculties of our college, HODs and section heads of various department are also joined in the session. Nearly 30 participants actively participated in that program. The resource person delivered excellent talk on importance of yoga and meditation for immunity enhancement and developing positive attitude by the people in this pandemic time. She has demonstrated the simple yoga asans and meditation techniques which can be practiced daily.

FAREWELL FUNCTION FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS-Department organized a farewell function for outgoing final year students on 1oth August 2021 at E&CE Seminar hall. HOD and teaching faculties gathered the function and wished the students a bright future.
