Roles and Responsibilities

Considering the factor of education and its need, the Constitution made certain provisions for the minorities under Article 29 and Article 30. The Union Government set up the National Commission for Minorities under the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. Six religious communities: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and Jains have been notified in Gazette of India as minority communities by the Union Government all over India.

The Minority cell is formed with the purpose of empowering the minority communities in the college. The Minority Cell basically helps minority students for their academic development and encourage students to connect with various policies and financial support provided by governmental and nongovernmental agencies. Also facilitates in conducting events and programmes for promoting minority communities in the institution.

  • Prepare the database of minority students of the college.
  • Documenting the student admissions under the minority category.
  • Address the grievances of minority students to render them necessary help in solving academic as well as administrative problems.
  • Arranging unique opportunities to enhance the carrier growth of the students.
  • Conducting the program for disseminating the scholarship schemes provided by governmental agencies and other sources.

  • Counselling the students to help them overcome inferiority complex related to interaction with fellow students and personal grooming, etc.

  • Organizing seminars, workshops and other related activities for the welfare of the minority students.
    • To ensure provisions for an environment where all such students feel safe and secure.
    • To facilitate financial support to students from minority communities from governmental agencies and other sources.
    • To be aware of the minority students regarding various scholarships program of state and central government.
    • To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the constitution of India.
    • To encourage enrolling in career orientation programs that would empower and equip them with the necessary skills to choose career options.
    • To develop the self confidence of SC/ST/OBC students
    • To integrate and promote the students who belong to SC/ST/OBC community at par with the main stream student body.
