A technical talk on “Career Prospects in Marine Engineering” was organised by the Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA) in association with the Training and Placement Department for the benefit of Mechanical Engineering students on 01/09/2025.
The session was delivered by Mr. Sandesh, Senior Associate Manager at the Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies, Kochi, who shared valuable insights into the field of marine engineering. He elaborated on the scope of marine engineering, career opportunities available to mechanical engineers, and their significant role in the marine industry. The speaker also explained various aspects such as ship machinery, marine engines, maintenance practices, and the challenges encountered during marine operations.
The talk was highly informative and interactive, enabling students to gain practical understanding of marine engineering and its relevance to core mechanical engineering subjects. The session motivated students to explore diverse career opportunities in the marine sector.
