ACE organized a technical talk on “Sustainable Horizons in Civil Engineering” for 3rd, 5th& 7th semester Civil Engineering students. Resource person Dr.H Ajith Hebbar, Former Professor in Civil Engineering, gave the presentation, which was scheduled on 27th September 2024. This Talk aims to provide valuable insight and inspiration to our students in pivotal shift toward environmentally responsible practices that prioritize long-term ecological health alongside infrastructure development. This emerging paradigm emphasizes the use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient design, and innovative construction techniques that minimize waste and reduce carbon footprints. Key strategies include the integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, into infrastructure projects, and the adoption of green building certifications like LEED. Furthermore, advancements in technology, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and modular construction, facilitate efficient resource use and improved project lifecycle management. Sustainable civil engineering also prioritizes water management through practices like rainwater harvesting and the implementation of permeable pavements to enhance storm water management. By fostering resilience against climate change and promoting social equity, the field aims to create infrastructure that not only meets current needs but also preserves resources for future generations. Embracing these sustainable practices is essential for shaping a more resilient and responsible built environment.Civil department HOD and all the staff took part in this session. 68 numbers of students got benefited by this session.
