The International Women’s Day was celebrated at KVG College of Engineering on Saturday,
13th March, 2026 at 10.00 AM. “Give to Gain” is the motto of the women’s day 2026. It also means that Providing support, opportunities, mentorship, and resources to women and girls creates a ripple effect where everyone benefits.
Smt. Jyothi, Police Constable, Sullia was the chief guest of the event. She explained important traffic rules such as following traffic signals, wearing safety gear, obeying speed limits, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, carrying necessary documents, and ensuring that minors do not drive vehicles. She emphasized that these rules are important to reduce accidents and ensure the safety of everyone on the road. She also spoke about the supportive and helpful role of the police department in ensuring the safety and well-being of women. She pointed out that many incidents of harassment and injustice against women are occurring in society and stressed that such incidents must be reduced. In this regard, she said that the Government of India has introduced measures such as the 1930 helpline number to help prevent such crimes and provide support to victims.
Guest of honor Dr. Jyothi R Prasad, Secretary, Committee ‘B’ AOLE, Sullia, spoke about women’s empowerment, emphasizing that women have the same inheritance rights as men. She said that Women’s Day should not be celebrated only for a single day. Merely praising women as goddesses or comparing them to Mother Earth is not enough. It is believed that when women are respected in a family, the home becomes happy and prosperous. In earlier times, women were mostly restricted to household responsibilities, but today they are progressing in many fields. He stated that women should build the confidence to stand independently and face challenges with courage.
Dr. Bhagya H K, Professor& Dean Hostel, Department of E&CE and Mrs. Harinakshi A, Assistant Librarian, KVGCE are felicitated for their long lived service in the KVGCE.
Dr. Suresha V, KVGCE was the president of the function. He highlighted that women’s empowerment is key to improving family well-being and contributing to national progress. According to him, self-belief, knowledge, positive behavior, supportive relationships, bravery, and patience are essential for the development of a family. He also emphasized that good leadership, equality between men and women, and equal pay are necessary for building a stable family. In addition, he appreciated the accomplishments of women in various sectors.
Dr. Shreedhar K, Vice Principal, Head of Mathematics department pointed out the important participation of women in social and political activities and their meaningful role within the family. Women are making remarkable progress in different areas and continue to create a positive impact while fulfilling their duties as mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters.
Mr. Bhavani Shankar Adthale, Administrative Officer, AOLE Committee ‘B’, Sullia highlighted about the strength and weakness of the women and also suggested to follow the proper dress code as an Indian.
Ms. Sonika P amused the audience by a speech which signifies the power of a woman. A dance performance was presented by Ms. Kanmani and her team. Numerous games are organized for staff and students during this event.
Miss. Kushi K T & team prayed the almighty. Dr. Surekha M, Professor& Head, Department of Chemistry, delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Bhagya Jyothi K L, Professor, Department of CS&E introduced the chief guest. Prof. Prajna V T and Prof. Naseema C A introduced the felicitators. Prof. Manjula B delivered the vote of thanks. Ms. Bhoomika D, was the masters of ceremony. All the lady staffs and students and the members of CICC, KVGCE participated in an enthusiastic manner. The program was then followed by a Food Fest, where over 20 food stalls were installed in front of the college. Food fest was appreciated by Management and all the participants.
